Diploma in Dialysis Technology Overview At present there is shortage of qualified dialysis technicians. This course is started to overcome the shortage of qualified excellent dialysis technicians in the government and private hospitals of the state of Kerala. The course was started in the year of 1996. 90 qualified technicians were passed out from our institution with high score. Name of the Course Diploma in Dialysis Technology (DDT) Objectives To train the students to carry out various techniques of Haemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis to perform techniques of dialysis independently.

Eligibility Criteria for BSc Nursing

1. Nationality: Candidates must be Citizen of India/children or dependents of Non-Resident Indians

2. Academic: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or examinations recognized equivalent there to , with 50% aggregate in physics, chemistry, biology and english.

2.1. College Of NursingLisie College of Nursing is dedicated to providing high quality nursing education to aspiring students and excellent performance of our students bears testimony to our commitment.

2.2. ) Rounding off of the percentage of marks to the nearest whole number is not permitted.

2.3. Candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from authorities other than the State of Kerala shall produce the certificate of recognition and equivalence of the qualifying examination from any University of Kerala.

2.4. The norms of eligibility prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council/ Kerala Nurses & Midwives Council/ affiliating Universities shall also apply.

3. Age: Applicants should have completed 17 years of age on 31st December. No relaxation of age will be allowed.

4. Admission Procedure: 50% seats will be filled by the Government and remaining 50% will be filled by the Association of the Management of Christian Self Financing Nursing Colleges of Kerala. (AMCSFNCK)

About the Institution

Lisie School of Nursing, established in 1963, is one of the premier institutions in Kerala providing nursing education. The Lisie School of Nursing offers General Nursing and Midwifery programme of 3 years duration as specified by the Indian Nursing Council based on the selection criteria set by the Kerala Nurses’ Midwives Council. The Institution is recognized by the Kerala Nurses Midwives Council and Indian Nursing Council.

The Lisie School of Nursing is an integral part of Lisie Medical and Educational Institution. The Philosophy of Lisie School of Nursing has evolved from five decade’s experience and tradition of excellence in nursing education and is based upon a set of beliefs shared by the total nursing faculty.

Following the footsteps of the Divine Healer, the Lisie School of Nursing embraces the mission of Lisie Hospital, and has pledged to give its students, the kind of quality training in the art and science of nursing which aims to inculcate in them love and respect for the suffering humanity under deep sense of commitment to their cause. The faculty of the School of Nursing has designed the philosophy around the nursing concepts of client, health, nursing and environment.

Patient

The client of nursing is the recipient of nursing care and may include the person across the lifespan, family, group and community.  The person has a set of needs, hierarchical in nature which develops through a series of recognizable stages from conception till death. The faculty believes in the integrity, dignity and worth of person as an open, goal directed, humanistic being.

Health

Health is defined as a state of well being resulting from harmonious interaction of body, mind, spirit and environment. The faculty believes that health must be considered in its broadest, holistic sense and it depends on a balance of physical, Psychological, sociological, cultural, developmental and spiritual factors.

Nursing

The faculty believes that the professional nurse should be equipped with the knowledge, skill and attitude to render comprehensive nursing care so as to promote the health of individual, family and community and to work autonomously and collaboratively with the other member of the health team. While ensuring the welfare of public, the nurse also has the added responsibility to enhance the welfare of nursing profession.

Environment

The environment is the context in which an individual fulfills his basic needs. It consists of physiological, Psychological, socio cultural, spiritual and biophysical elements.

Objectives

The Lisie School of Nursing is a unit of Lisie Medical institution and is functioning with following primary objectives.

On completion of GNM training of the students.

1. Realize the mobility of Nursing profession and dignity of their great vocation,  whereby they will see God in man and will minister to the sick with great sense  of dedication and commitment.

2. Develop basic skills and abilities to render services to the familiar and thereby to the society.

3. Assess health status, identify the problems, plan and provide care, evaluate the services rendered to the clients.

4. Participate as members of the health team in preventive, promotive, curative and  rehabilitative services in health care delivery system.

5. Acquire adequate knowledge regarding current trends nursing profession and assist them in planning their future nursing career and give stimulus for advanced studies. 

6. Achieve personal and professional development by encouraging active participation in curricular and co-curricular activities connect with the profession for which the institution has provided prizes, awards, scholarships and other incentives.

Facilities

Structure: School has own building with well ventilated class rooms, well equipped laboratories, Library, with good collection of books.

Hostel: School has separate and spacious hostel for students to stay and study. 

Laboratories: Spacious laboratories for all nursing subjects for better demonstration and teaching. We are having separated laboratories for Anatomy, Fundamentals of Nursing, Nutrition and maternal child health lab. And this laboratories are well equipped. 

Library: Consists of good collection of books with students seating arrangements for comfortable reading. 

Transportation: Own buses for transportation 

Clinical facilities: We have well equipped Lisie multispecialty hospital with a bed strength of 1000 to ensure maximum clinical exposure.

Admission

Eligibility for admission 

The minimum educational qualification required for admission is a pass in PDC/Plus Two/VHSE examination with preference to Physics, Chemistry & Biology as optional subjects.

The age of the applicant should be between 17-27 years as on 1st of October in the year of admission with relaxation of upper age limit up to 5 years in the case of candidates who belong to .the backward community. In the case of candidates who belong to religious orders of the minority community, the maximum age limit is 30 years.

Eligibility certificate: Candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from outside the state of Kerala shall produce the certificate of recognition and equivalency of qualifying examination, from board of Kerala. This should be furnished at the time of interview for admission.

How to apply

1. The application forms and information brochure can be obtained from the School of Nursing on payment of Rs. 200 by hand (Rs. 250 by post)

2. Submission of application

3. Each application form contains one office copy and one duplicate copy.

4. The application form should be filled by the candidate in her own handwriting

5. The original form should be sent to the Principal, Lisie School of Nursing, Lisie Hospital,Cochin-682 018,Keralaon or before the last date specified with the necessary documents.

6. Certified copies of mark lists of SSLC and Plus Two

7. Conduct certificates - two (School/Church/Panchayath) from two respectable persons not related to the applicant, but have known the applicant for the last two years just previous to the date of application.

8. Duplicate copy should be directly sent to the Registrar, Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council,Red cross road, Thiruvananthapuram-35 by the candidate along with the attested copies of the following certificates

Selection and Admission

1. Admission to the school will be made by a committee constituted by the members of the Board of Management of the School, consisting of the Director, Principal of the School, Nursing Superintendent of the Hospital, the Chief Medical Officer of the Hospital and Nominee of the Council.

2. Selection is made on the basis of the performance in interview, academic record, health, aptitude and motivation and all round ability of the person

3. The original certificates should be produced at the time of interview

4. The decision of the interview board will be final

5. The selection list will be published in the school on the next day of interview.

6. The selected candidate have to undergo medical check up and the medically fit candidates alone will be admitted.

7. Admission to the school will be made by a committee constituted by the members of the Board of Management of the School, consisting of the Director, Principal of the School, Nursing Superintendent of the Hospital, the Chief Medical Officer of the Hospital and Nominee of the Council. The selected candidates will be informed of the date and time of admission. The students shall pay the fees of the 1st year of course on the medical examination day. The fee once remitted will not be refunded on any account.

Lisie College of Pharmacy is part of Lisie Medical & Educational Institutions (A Registered Charitable Trust) - owned and managed by the Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamali. Eligibility of Admission Minimum Educational Qualification The candidates should be Passed in the higher secondary examination of the board of higher secondary education of Kerala, or equivalent examinations conducted by any of universities in Kerala with physics, chemistry and biology as optional subjects and a minimum of 50% marks of these subjects put together. Age Limit The candidates should be in the age group of 17-25 yrs relaxation in the upper age limit for SC/ST candidates are allowable. Total No. Of Seats 10 Students per Batch . Duration of the course The duration of the course shall be Two year including One year Internship. Course Structure One year of classes and practical training following which the candidates have to appear theory and practical examination conducted by DME, Kerala. The successful candidates have to undergo one year of internship which the degree is awarded.
